NeIC 2024 is happy to introduce the Best Paper awards to recognize excellence in original research, innovative thinking, and the quality and impact of published work. Evaluation of the awards considers both pre and post-conference submissions.
This year, the best paper award went to paper # 012 entitled “A Novel Blockchain Approach for Continuously Authenticating UAVs to Achieve Zero Trust Principles in 5G-enabled UAVs” by Dr. Hisham Kholidy from Northern Illinois University, USA.
According to the reviewers, this paper is the first of its kind that discusses a practical authentication model that works for the new 5G-driven UAVs. It introduces a thrilling authentication primarily based on the blockchain method that implements an authentication technique that augments the zero-trust system. The author developed a new authentication technique that improves the existing 5G-AKA protocol and applies it to a recent architecture of the UAVs that carry a flying 5G base station, which is one of the hot research areas nowadays, that can be used for search and rescue services and in rural areas lacking timely access to internet and cellular network services.
NeIC would like to thank the author for this brilliant work. Congratulations again on the Best Paper award!!!
