Description
SciLifeLab is Sweden’s infrastructure for life science research. Many of its units (labs and such) use to manage their orders a Web application built in-house, that has only ever been called the order portals. Open source since their inception, the order portals sport a simple and efficient software architecture; an even simpler user interface through which lab workers and researchers can manage orders up to the point where data is delivered; and a few reporting tools. I will discuss the technical architecture, the use cases, and the different challenges associated with this grassroots project.
