Description

We are developing a high-resolution trace gas sensor system based on absorption spectroscopy, initially targeting carbon dioxide and methane with a clear roadmap towards other gases. Having finalized the sensing hardware design and analysis required for the system, we are currently developing the control software and inter-component signaling interfaces.

Like many other proof-of-technology setups, ours has relied on a large and sub-optimally structured LabVIEW codebase for everything from the graphical user interface (GUI) to device control and data acquisition. The technical debt of the codebase and limitations of the proprietary language has thus prompted us to rewrite it from scratch.

Here we present our current hardware control development, based on two layers of abstraction; hardware and scientific.
